Summary
In the Community, there is no more pain or war. Implanted computer chips have wiped humanity clean of destructive emotions, and thoughts are replaced by a feed from the Link network.
When Zoe starts to malfunction (or “glitch”), she suddenly begins having her own thoughts, feelings, and identity. Any anomalies must be immediately reported and repaired, but Zoe has a secret so dark it will mean certain deactivation if she is caught: her glitches have given her uncontrollable telekinetic powers.
As Zoe struggles to control her abilities and stay hidden, she meets other glitchers including Max, who can disguise his appearance, and Adrien, who has visions of the future. Both boys introduce Zoe to feelings that are entirely new. Together, this growing band of glitchers must find a way to free themselves from the controlling hands of the Community before they’re caught and deactivated, or worse.
In this action-packed debut, Glitch begins an exciting new young adult trilogy.
My Thoughts: This story is about Zoe in her quest to save herself and others like her from the rule Community. Zoe along with everyone else she knows is controlled by embedded computer hardware. They have been told this is for their safety; is it really? Zoe, Max, and Adrien are the main characters. Each of them are faced with challenges, Zoe most of all. Zoe is in the middle of a love triangle with the two boys. She has feelings for both and must evaluate her new found feelings and decide which road she wants to take.
The characters are well written. I enjoyed this read although at times I was irritated with Zoe. She can be so naive and trusting which can lead to disaster. Max is intense, selfish and power hungry. Most of their behaviors can be dismissed due to their lack of experiences with emotions and not being taught how to deal with them. Adrien on the other hand is more of a mystery to me. His intentions are not always clear.
Anastasiu bends a beautiful mix of mystery, suspense, and romance to keep you engaged until the very end. Will the glitchers abilities be their downfall or their savior. I was left with many questions and will have to read the next book to hopefully get the answers. I went the the range of emotions as the characters did. Zoe wants to save the world, first, she must learn to save herself.

I agree Max is scary intense and Zoe is so innocent and trusting. Let's hope she learns to not be so eager to trust.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the review. I think I won't be buying this book...I'd borrow it from the library instead. I'm not a fan of naive heroines. >.<
ReplyDeleteSometimes it can be annoying to have too many unanswered questions at the end of the book, but this sounds awesome nontheless.
ReplyDeleteSeems interesting, although I don't really want to start reading a yet anther series.
ReplyDeleteI don't think I have ever been so conflicted about reading a book vs. not reading a book. The reviews for Glitch are so across the board, I don't know what to make of it. I think the only thing to do is read it and make my own evaluation, otherwise I don't think I will be able to stop thinking about this one. Which I reckon, for the pub and author, that is a good thing. The more readers think, the more likely they are to buy. Thanks for your review. Short, sweet and to the point. My favorite kind!
ReplyDeleteI would like to read this book but now I'm wondering if I should. I hope that a lot of questions will be answered in the next book.
ReplyDeleteDarn. I was really looking forward to reading this, but I have a severe allergic reaction whenever I see the words "Love Triangle." Perhaps I'll still read it. I'm just not all that fond of "Who will she pick?" stories.
ReplyDeleteI have been wanting to read this book for awhile now. I love the story line. I want to know more about where they are at and what happens to them. There is so much to find out in this story and I can't wait to dive right into it!! Your review is great. And it gives me some insight as to how the characters are. Thank you for sharing your thoughts with us!!
ReplyDeleteThis sounds really interesting! I'm always intrigued by the "dystopias" that have technology embedded in them. I've definitely heard mixed reviews of this book (like others have mentioned), but your review makes me want to pick ti up.
