A dab of blue here, a splash of red there, a goopy smear of green . . . everywhere. To the tune of "It Ain't Gonna Rain No More," one creative kid floods his world with color, painting first the walls, then the ceiling, then HIMSELF! Before this feisty artist is through, he'll have painted his head, back, hands, legs, feet, and . . . Oh no--here comes Mama!

Karen Beaumont's zippy text and David Catrow's zany illustrations turn an infamous childhood activity into raucous storytime fun, giving a silly twist to the fine art of self-expression.

Thoughts:I absolutely love this book and the children do, too!! I read this to a classroom of youngsters during a Dr. Seuss birthday celebration at an elementary school in my town. They had me read it at least twice and would have probably had me re-reading it all day, if I didn't have to got to another classroom. Even though, this little fella is into some mischief, just couldn't help singing along as he picks and chooses to color various parts of his body. It begins with him having gotten caught by his mama after he has painted all over the walls everywhere. His mother gets angry and tells him, "you ain't gonna paint no more" then sends him and the dog to bathe but this little boy has declared that there is no way he is going to turn in his paint brush and goes to locate the hiding place of the paint. Once he's found it, he begins to paint all over his body as his dog innocently watches. This makes for a great read on teaching children to learn different body parts, what they are for and how to spell them. The illustrations are adorable, funny and colorful.

  3. This is so adorable! I cannot wait for my nephew to stop ripping the pages in books. Maybe our hometown library has it and when he is older I can check it out and read it to him. The book looks super cute! I may not be able to wait.
